私たちは、２００６年に『NPO法人リトミックGifu』を設立し、「小学生のリトミック」では、リトミックを基礎に、ミュージカルに取り組み始めました。

その頃、岡本伸子さんが文化庁新進芸術家海外研修員として、イギリスに滞在されていました。イギリス旅行が夢だった私は、この機会に岡本さんに会いに出かけました。幸運にも、岡本さんの授業を見学しても良いとのこと。

日本では考えられないドラマ教室での内容は、狂言。(日本の伝統的な古典喜劇)
16歳の彼らは、歌舞伎や能、狂言などのこともよく知っていて驚きました。
彼らは、狂言の基本的な動きや内容の講義、小グループでの創作活動後、短時間ではありましたが、素晴らしい発表で感激しました。

伸子さんの帰国後、設立されたばかりの「DICE第1回目」を大垣で開催しました。多文化・多人種・多言語の中で構築されたイギリスの「ドラマ」教育のスキルをもとに、
身体を使って表現する楽しさや考え方が違う相手でもコミュニケーション出来ることを、子どもたちは学びました。
以後、「DICE」を開催できることを、毎年楽しみにしています。

We founded ‘NPO Rhythmics Gifu’ in 2006 and in the event ‘Rhythmics for primary school students’, we worked on a musical using rhythmics as the basis.

It was around that time when Nobuko was in the UK as a researcher supported by the Japanese government. As it was my dream to go to the UK, I travelled to London to see Nobuko. Also, I was lucky as I was allowed to observe her class.

The topic of the class was Kyogen (Japanese traditional comic theatre), which was very unusual in Japan.
To my surprise, students already knew a lot about Kabuki and Noh.
They had a chance to experience basic movements of Kyogen and also got a short lecture on the comic theatre. After that, they were divided into smaller groups and they created great improvised pieces in a short time.

After Nobuko came back to Japan, we held the very first DICE programme in Ogaki. It was a great chance for children to learn the joy of expressing themselves with body movements and the possibility of communicating with people with different views. This was all possible with the skill of Drama in education established in the UK, which is the melting pot of many cultures, races and languages.
Since then, I always look forward to hold the next DICE.
